About the Site
Some time back, I had 35 short stories and 80 or so poems published in various and sundry magazines, publications, the like, and then — for reasons that I won’t go into here — I stopped writing for about 20 years.
Then a couple of years ago, I got acquainted with blogging on MySpace and posted some new essays and stories there. Receiving some praise and encouragement from readers, I, William “Bill” Browning (a.k.a. B-Brizzle) quickly got back into writing.
My works and musings brought about a decent amount of traffic on MySpace, I’ve even made a little money writing from time to time in recent years and I’ve been pretty happy just doing that.
But, deep down, I’ve wanted a place where I could put my work that was… well, just mine. And though it’s a little weird to be all “Hey world! Over here! Look at me!” thanks to a brilliant and generous friend, I now have that place: a custom, tailored specifically for me web site!
And so I hope with Brizzle’s Basket I have created a place where people who love to read, laugh and eavesdrop can visit, poke around, archive-dive and have some fun.
So far, my writing falls into a few natural categories and I will probably make up a few more as we go along.
“Hiss and Slither” has works that are true, memoir type pieces about my life, usually serious, though not always.
“PB & J” is where I can indulge in a love for Parody, Blogging and the occasional Joke.
“Rock me, Momma” has the now infamous collection of stories about my mother, Peggy — possibly the finest and funniest mother anyone ever had. Hilarious and/or heartbreaking, folks seem to love reading about my adventures with Mom.
“Pills” records the hijinks of the demented — both staff and residents — at a nursing home I like to call “Waiting to Die Manor,” where I toil through my day job as a medical technician.
“Hard Candy” has just that: my more adult-oriented essays and content. These pieces are usually not for the feint of heart.
Coming soon, I’ll be bulking up at least two new categories: “Big Girls with Big Voices” and “I Love James Franco.”
Okay, that’s about it about me. This ol’ snake charmer is very excited to finally have a web site of his very own, designed specifically for him. Though even I never know exactly what I’ll conjure up out of my “basket” on a given day, I hope you will visit often. I hope today you find or found something interesting, funny, helpful or just plain entertaining.
Thank you.
